National Indigenous Students' Conference 2019

We are proud to welcome all undergraduate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to the National Indigenous Students' Conference 2019 (NISC 2019)! Held at the Australian National University from Tuesday 10 - Friday 13 September on beautiful Ngunnawal-Ngambri Country, NISC 2019 will include workshops, keynote speakers and social events covering a range of topics including higher education policy, finance, governance, culture, advocacy and careers.

NISC 2019 provides a space for our mob to come together and share. It will be a time where we can learn from each other, upskill, network and grow as future leaders. The environment NISC fosters allows for us to share resources, skills and knowledge for the purposes of advancing the interests of Indigenous students.

About the Designer
Breanna Buttenshaw is a proud Kalkadoon woman from Queensland. She has always loved art and it has been a way for Bree to express herself and connect to culture. Her art style is a mix between traditional Aboriginal artwork and modern art.
When asked about what this piece means to her, Bree says "This piece represents all of us, how uniquely individual and different we are, and that if we come together we can make a beautiful cohesive piece; much like the message for UATSIS."

You can follow Breanna on her Instagram account @little_button

This piece was created into a poster with the help of Kimiah Alberts of Wantok Designs.

Reconciliation Australia

Reconciliation Australia was established in 2001 and is the lead body for reconciliation in the nation. We are an independent not-for-profit organisation that promotes and facilitates reconciliation by building relationships, respect and trust between the wider Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Our vision of national reconciliation is based on five critical dimensions: race relations, equality and equity, institutional integrity, unity and historical acceptance. These five dimensions do not exist in isolation; they are inter-related and Australia can only achieve full reconciliation if we progress in all five.
